If you are a litigator or in house counsel with an interest in class action practice and law, be sure to pencil in to your calendar October 19-20, 2016, next to the words “20th National Institute on Class Actions at Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas.” This year we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of modern Rule 23, adopted in 1966.
I am again serving on the Planning Committee for this event; it should be great. I will be moderating a panel on the implications of the recent Supreme Court decision in Tyson Foods, Inc. v. Bouaphakeo, dealing with use of expert testimony using average data for class certification and trial. I will again be teaching “Class Actions 101,” an optional session I designed a few years ago, to kick off the Institute. This session (at which a box lunch is served) is a great refresher for those who may feel a bit rusty, only dabble in class actions, or are just getting started.
I’m biting my tongue about a special guest we are hoping to pin down for the Institute. All of the presentations being put together by my fellow Planning Committee members sound first rate, as usual. Please plan to come! Drew.
